The Viña del Mar International Song Festival is a music festival held annually during February since 1959 in Viña del Mar, Chile. It is considered the most important musical event in Latin America. El Jefe put on the best spectacle the festival has seen in years. The crowd known as the monster, known to boo performers offstage, was hanging from every single word El Cangri said. The energy in the Quinta Vergara was off the charts. Daddy Yankee was introduced by one of Chile’s biggest international stars, Don Francisco. The sold out crowd went insane as daddy came onstage singing “Jefe”. He followed it with “machucando”, “Noche de Entierro” and “mayor Que Yo”. As the crowd begged for more, he did a mixture of his old material with his new hits by singing “Que Tengo Que Hacer” and “King Daddy”. A young girl jumped onstage as Daddy Yankee performed “Pose”. The crowd was jumping, singing, and dancing along with daddy, it was pure euphoria. The Big Boss performed “Seguroski” which he dedicated to all those who followed him from day one. He followed this with a compilation of classics such as “machucando”, “Tu Principe”, “No Me Dejes Solo”. One of the highlights of the performance was when Yankee did the now famous “wiper” act in which all the lights are turned off and the crowd puts out their cell phones. He followed this with an amazing new concert trick in which he gets the crowd to take pictures as the lights are off, making the flashes of the cameras light up the venue. Daddy Yankee won the awards after singing his hits “machucando” and “Rompe”. ![]() The crowd went completely crazy. It was obvious they wanted Daddy Yankee to have the golden and silver Antorcha alongside with the Silver Gaviota. As the crowd literally begged for more, an emotional video was played as an intro to the anthem “Somos De Calle”. Daddy Yankee then exited the stage. But he was called for a second encore. He performed his classic hit “Lo Que Paso, Paso”. Which he followed with the Caribbean style songs, “Llamado de Emergencia” and “Ella Me Levanto”. The show was at a climax at this point. Daddy yankee exited the stage again. El Cangri was called for a third encore in which he made everyone in the venue to sing along with him for one last time. He sang “Gasolina”, “No Es Culpa Mia”, “Salgo Pala Calle” and ended with his classic, “Dale Caliente.” The show was absolutely electrifying from start to end. It finally ended at around three in the morning. Daddy Yankee is a synonym of success. His performance at Viña del Mar shows his one of the most talented artists to ever come out of Latin America. He has rightfully earned his Nickname, King Daddy.
