Padre Alberto Asks for Forgiveness

After a scandal about some pictures of Catholic Father Alberto, in which he is showing romantic behavior with a woman. The father offers his apologies to his congregation. The following is his memo:
    
“Dear Friends:
22 years ago at the seminary, convinced that God called me to share priesthood with Jesus, I’ve had many moments of joy as well as big trials, but overall, I know God is still calling my name and I have to listen. For a long time I’ve been convinced that with a good amount of prayer, exercise, and a balanced life, all tentation could be overcome. But in my particular case, it was not this way. My confessor encouraged me and the sacraments grace helped me be loyal and dedicated to priesthood for a big part of my ministry.

The church work and the media presented me with all types of people- even many Priest brothers that also have to deal with human sexuality and celibacy that the Church demands. It has not been easy. In fact, I have told my close friends y co-workers that this year has been the hardest of my life; due to so many bad situations in which my priest brothers have been involved in, both in and out of Miami.

Maybe after becoming aware of so many things about the institutions and other places.; I’ve become more sensible towards the pain and need that the church has to reform. The holy scriptures say “It is not good for men to be alone”. And I have lived that in flesh and bone. I’ve seen in many colleagues and in my self. I want you to know that I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for my actions and I know that it was me that made the mistake. I ask God for forgiveness and to  all of you if you feel offended. At the same time, God’s mercy comforts me- because God’s hand is broad and I know that he loves us all with his eternal love. I encourage you to love the church, love the mission of spreading the gospel, and don’t let anything discourage you. Always pray for me. “Who shall separate me from Christ’s love? The tribulations, the anguishes, the persecussion, hunger, lack of clothing, the dangers of a sword? Like the scripture says; For your cause we are given to death; we are considered to be sheeps at a slaughter house. But we will have the victory. Thanks to the one who loved us. Because the conviction that neither life nor death, neither angels or demons, neither the present or the future, not even spiritual powers, or the heights or the depths, no creature can separate me from God’s love, manifested through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.”
