The Puerto Rican singer Residente, half of Calle 13, said that the number of his fans will increase no matter what the critics have been saying lately about his insults towards the Puerto Rican govenor, Luis Fortuño.

The leader of the group was heavily criticized because of these insults during the awards show last Thursday in Los Angeles. He was protesting the 17,000 people who have been laid-off from work in his hometown.

He was also criticized about the messages he has been sending via the shirts he wore at the ceremony, such messages like "Uribe for Military Base" or "Micheletti sides with Pinochetti" and the other one included "Long Live a Free Puerto Rico".

"People who didn't listen to me now, are listening. This is what I can expect. Sometimes I care, but it will not make me change my thought process. I think a certain way and I am sure of what I am doing" said Rene Perez.




El cantante boricua Residente, del grupo Calle 13, dijo que el número de sus seguidores va “en aumento” pese a los vetos y críticas que recibió tras insultar al gobernador de Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuño, y manifestarse contra varios gobiernos latinoamericanos.

El líder del grupo urbano fue criticado por insultar gravemente a Fortuño durante unos premios anglos el pasado jueves en Los Ángeles en protesta por los más de 17,000 despidos de empleados públicos en la isla.

El cantante también fue criticado por los mensajes que mostraba en sus camisetas durante su participación en los premios, como una del presidente venezolano Hugo Chávez en la que era “Nominado mejor artista pop”, otra de “Uribe para bases militares”, “Micheletti rima con Pinochetti” y otra con “Viva Puerto Rico libre”.

“Mucha gente que no me escuchaba, me escucha ahora. Eso es parte de lo que uno tiene que esperar. A veces me importa, pero eso no va a dirigir mi manera de pensar. Yo pienso de una manera y estoy claro en lo que estoy haciendo”, dijo René Pérez, nombre verdadero del artista.
